Some jokes have the punchline baked in.

Sugar Coat rulings

  • Food is an artifact type. Even though it appears on some creatures, it's never a creature type.

  • You can't sacrifice a Food to pay multiple costs. For example, you can't sacrifice a Food token to activate its own ability and also to activate Maraleaf Rider's ability.

  • Whatever you do, don't eat the delicious cards.

  • A creature enchanted with Sugar Coat stops being a creature. Equipment attached to that creature become unattached. Auras attached to that creature will be put into their owner's graveyard (unless they could also enchant a Food artifact).

  • The enchanted permanent still retains its name, mana cost, and mana value. It isn't a token unless it already was one.

Sugar Coat keyword rules

Enchant Rule 702.5

Enchant is a static ability, written “Enchant [object or player].” The enchant ability restricts what an Aura spell can target and what an Aura can enchant.

For more information about Auras, see rule , “Enchantments.”

If an Aura has multiple instances of enchant, all of them apply. The Aura’s target must follow the restrictions from all the instances of enchant. The Aura can enchant only objects or players that match all of its enchant abilities.

Auras that can enchant a player can target and be attached to players. Such Auras can’t target permanents and can’t be attached to permanents.

Flash Rule 702.8

Flash is a static ability that functions in any zone from which you could play the card it’s on. “Flash” means “You may play this card any time you could cast an instant.”

Multiple instances of flash on the same object are redundant.
