Thurid, Mare of Destiny rulings

  • Thurid's triggered ability and the copy it creates will resolve before the spell that caused it to trigger. They resolve even if that spell is countered or otherwise leaves the stack without resolving.

  • As a copy of a permanent spell resolves, it's put onto the battlefield as a token rather than putting a copy of the spell onto the battlefield. The rules that apply to a permanent spell becoming a permanent apply to a copy of a spell becoming a token.

  • The token that a resolving copy of a permanent spell becomes isn't "created." Abilities that refer to a token being created won't interact with the copy resolving.

  • Thurid's triggered ability will copy only creature spells, not noncreature kindred spells, even if those spells have the Pegasus, Unicorn, or Horse types.

  • Thurid's triggered ability doesn't trigger if a Pegasus, Unicorn, or Horse creature is put onto the battlefield without being cast.

Thurid, Mare of Destiny keyword rules

Flying Rule 702.9

Flying is an evasion ability.

A creature with flying can’t be blocked except by creatures with flying and/or reach. A creature with flying can block a creature with or without flying. (See rule , “Declare Blockers Step,” and rule , “Reach.”)

Multiple instances of flying on the same creature are redundant.

Lifelink Rule 702.15

Lifelink is a static ability.

Damage dealt by a source with lifelink causes that source’s controller, or its owner if it has no controller, to gain that much life (in addition to any other results that damage causes). See rule .

If an object changes zones before an effect causes it to deal damage, its last known information is used to determine whether it had lifelink.

The lifelink rules function no matter what zone an object with lifelink deals damage from.

If multiple sources with lifelink deal damage at the same time, they cause separate life gain events (see rules –10).

Multiple instances of lifelink on the same object are redundant.
