Iron Man, Titan of Innovation — Primer 2

Overview

This is an Izzet artifact token deck built around Iron Man's ability to generate and weaponize artifact tokens. The gameplan is straightforward: flood the board with cheap artifacts and Servo tokens, then convert them into something devastating with Brudiclad, Telchor Engineer or drain the table with Reckless Fireweaver.

Win Conditions

  • Brudiclad combo — Create one scary token (e.g. via Cyberdrive Awakener or Saheeli's Artistry copying something large), then swing with Brudiclad to convert all your tokens into copies of it.

  • Mechanized Production — Enchant any artifact. With Esoteric Duplicator and token generators, reaching 8 copies is faster than it looks.

  • Reckless Fireweaver burn — Each artifact entering the battlefield pings each opponent. Pair with Unwinding Clock or mass artifact production to burn the table out.

  • Kappa Cannoneer beatdown — Gets arbitrarily large as artifacts flood in, and has ward 4 and trample.

Token Engines

The deck generates tokens from multiple angles:

  • Slagstone Refinery — Produces a Servo whenever you cast an artifact. With 30+ artifacts in the deck this fires constantly.

  • Esoteric Duplicator — Cct you cast. Doubles every Servo Schematic,Ichor Wellspring, and Aether Spellbomb.

  • Servo Schematic — Creates 2 Servos on both entering and leaving the battlefield. Combine with Scrap Trawler for repeated loops.

  • Hydroelectric Specimen y side generates Servo tokens while alsoproviding mana.

Key Synergies

Scrap Trawler Loops

When any artifact is put into a graveyard, Scrap Trawler returns a cheaper one. Chaining Servo Schematic → ASpellbomb → back again generates tokens, draws for free.

Emry + Goblin Engineer Recursion

Emry, Lurker of the Loch casts artifacts from the graveyard directly. Goblin Engineer tutors any artifact into the bin and brings a cheap one back each turn. Together they keep the engine running through removal.

Unwinding Clock

Untaps all your artifacts on each opponent's untap step. With Urza, Lord High Artificer or Mystic Forge in play, you effs of mana and card access per round.

Cost Reduction Package

Foundry Inspector, Enthusiastic Mechanaut each reduceartifact costs by 1. All three online means most of the deck costs nothing, enabling explosive turns where a dozen artifacts enter the battlefield in sequence.

Protection

  • Padeem, Consul of Innovation — Gives your artifacts hexproof and draws a card each upkeep if you control the highest mana value artifact.

  • Pia's Revolution — Forces opponents to take 3 damage or let you recur every artifact that dies. Punishes spot removal hard.

  • Commander's Plate — Protects Iron Man from color-relevant removal and pumps him significantly.

Removal Suite

  • Vandalblast — Overloaded, this wipes every opponent's artifact while leaving yours untouched.

  • Blasphemous Act + Chain Reaction — One-sided in practice since Kappa Cannoneer and indestructible artifacts survive.

  • Rapid Hybridization, Desynchronization, Prismari Command — Flexible spot removal and interaction.

Tips & Lines

  1. Lead with cost reducers before playing Iron Man. Curving Foundry Inspector → Iron Man on turn 4 means most tokens cost 0.

  2. Hold Brudiclad for the turn you can swing immediately — giving tokens haste is part of his ability.

  3. Esoteric Duplicator copies are nonlegendary, so copying Iron Man's tokens doubles your payload before Brudiclad converts them.

  4. Trash for Treasure is at its best sacrificing a duplicate Servo Schematic to return Master Transmuter or Urza.
