Killer Cosplay rulings

  • An identical mana cost includes color. For example, if Killer Cosplay becomes attached to a creature with mana cost three generic manaone green manaone green mana, you couldn't name a creature card with mana cost four generic manaone green mana or three generic mana.

  • You can choose the name of any creature card that matches the condition. It does not have to be a legal card in the format you're playing or a part of your Draft or Sealed pool.

  • You can choose a creature card name you've already chosen. Not getting all the style points you could, but it's allowed.

  • In most cases, the equipped creature will gain all the usual copiable values of the creature card with the chosen name—that is, it will have its name, types, abilities, power, and toughness. However, if you can produce the actual card you've named, the equipped creature will also have that card's art, watermarks, and flavor text.

  • An Equipment can't become attached to a creature if it's already attached to it. That is, you can activate the equip ability targeting the creature Killer Cosplay's already attached to, but that ability resolving won't do anything. Killer Cosplay's triggered ability won't trigger.

Killer Cosplay keyword rules

Equip Rule 702.6

Equip is an activated ability of Equipment cards. “Equip [cost]” means “[Cost]: Attach this permanent to target creature you control. Activate only as a sorcery.”

For more information about Equipment, see rule , “Artifacts.”

Equip abilities may further restrict what creatures may be chosen as legal targets. Such restrictions usually appear in the form “Equip [quality]” or “Equip [quality] creature.” These equip abilities may legally target only a creature that’s controlled by the player activating the ability and that has the chosen quality. Additional restrictions for an equip ability don’t restrict what the Equipment may be attached to.

If a permanent has multiple equip abilities, any of its equip abilities may be activated.

“Equip planeswalker” is a variant of the equip ability. “Equip planeswalker [cost]” means “[Cost]: Attach this permanent to target planeswalker you control as though that planeswalker were a creature. Activate only as a sorcery.”
